Helping B.C.’s older adults continue living independently, and age with dignity in their own homes by providing simple, non-medical home support services. Its unique ‘seniors planning for seniors’ approach means older adults contribute to the design, operation, and evaluation of their local program. Across the province Better At Home offers 92 programs, serving over 260 communities. This past year (2023) over 13,900 seniors have participated in Better At Home with over 285,000 services delivered.
If there is one thing that all seniors have in common, it is a desire to live independently, in their own home, for as long as possible. The Better At Home Program is truly a lifeline for many seniors who would undoubtedly need to move out of their homes if it were not for the help they receive through this program.
Friendly visiting and social activities are provided at no cost. All other services are provided on a sliding fee scale based on your annual income. Some seniors may qualify for a 100% subsidy. Others may receive a 70% subsidy, 50% subsidy, 30% subsidy, and no subsidy.
In order to receive any of these services, you will need to register. You must be age 50+ and residing in Fort Nelson to be eligible. Please note that services may be limited and are subject to availability and funding.
